Get Your Home Ready To Sell
We all know that it is a HOT Seller's Market out there, however that doesn't mean that sellers don't need to put any effort into getting their homes ready for the market. As professionals in the industry we see it all the time where a seller doesn't
put effort into making their home market ready and next thing you know they are on the market for what seems to be FOREVER, becoming that old, stale listing. No one wants to be that seller. Here are some helpful tips to help your home sell
versus sending all the buyers to your competition.
l Edge, mow and fertilize the lawn. Reseed sparse areas.
l Trim hedges, weed lawns and flowerbeds, and prune trees. Cut back overgrown shrubbery.
l Reseal cracks in foundation, steps, walkways, walls and patios. Power-wash the exterior.
l Clean and align gutters and downspouts; clean the chimney.
l Remove oil stains from driveway and garage. Keep walks and driveway swept or free of ice.
l Wash the windows inside and out. There are several companies that do this service for you, you may want to inquire in order to save time.
l Clean or Hire a cleaning service to thoroughly clean the interior. Declutter! is the popular word, however don't make your home into a hospital we still want to paint the picture of a cozy, inviting home. Staging is KEY!
l Paint the walls a neutral color such as gray, beige,or the hot trending color greige.
l Repair cracks, holes and damage to plaster, wallboard, wallpaper, paint, and tiles.
l Replace damaged windowpanes, moldings and woodwork.
l Repair drippy faucets and showerheads. Unclog slow drains. Freshen up any caulk around showers, toilets, & sinks.
l Shampoo carpets, scrub and wax linoleum or wood floors.
l Clean out the fireplace and lay some logs in it.
l Mend torn screens. Clean out all window tracks.
l Replace burned-out light bulbs. Use brighter light bulbs.
l Renail creaking boards or stairs; lubricate squeaking doors.
l Clean all appliances (especially refrigerator and oven).
